Frequently asked questions
Can it release the door remotely?
Yes. When the intercom is connected to an electric lock, gate or your access control system, an authorised person can release the door from a desk phone, indoor monitor, computer or mobile app after seeing and speaking to the visitor.
Can calls go to mobiles?
Yes. Calls can be sent to a mobile app with live video, so staff can answer when they are away from their desk or off site. You decide which users receive calls and at what times.
Does it integrate with existing access control?
In most cases, yes. IP intercoms can trigger a door release through an existing access control system, and many can also act as a card or PIN reader on that system. We check compatibility with your current equipment during the survey.
Can several offices share one entrance?
Yes. A multi-tenant directory or a multi-button panel lets visitors select the company they are visiting, and each call is routed only to that tenant, who can then release the shared door.
Does it work over the network?
Yes. IP intercoms connect to your data network and are normally powered over the same cable using PoE. We design the network side as part of the installation, including keeping intercom traffic separate and secure where required.
What maintenance is required?
Entrance panels need periodic cleaning and a check of the camera, microphone, speaker and door release. Firmware should be kept up to date and call routing reviewed as staff change. We offer maintenance and support agreements covering these checks along with fault response.
